Backstage During Milan Menswear Fashion Week

The thing about fashion shows is, you have to wait for another 6 months before you can see the pieces from runway hit the stores. That’s why, for me, the best way to get fashion inspiration for now is either the look off the runways (street style) or the models themselves at the backstage. This time we can learn from what’s going on behind the wall from Milan Menswear Fashion week.

You can learn effortless summer style just by seeing what they are wearing (their actual clothes). Or you can learn their current hair style. Or if you smart enough, you know what runway’s look that you can prepare for next year. Learn something.

Art is subjective, no?

Fashion Friday: Joe Jonas’s Style During Fashion Week

Back in the day, I really didn’t pay attention of his music. But now, Joe Jonas really got my attention with his sartorial skill. He looks very put together from Milan Menswear fashion week up until Paris fashion week.  I know, you may never get to front row of every big fashion house, but at least, we all can learn something from his style.

And that something could be fit suit, great pants, sweater, or classic hair cut.

My favourite look, him at Carven S/S 2015 fashion show. A bit relaxing but still look formal enough.

What’s your plan for weekend?

Best of Milan Fashion Week: Neil Barrett Spring Summer 2013

Like the stripes with brown and white. Totally fresh colours

I know I’ve been busy promoting my new book, but it doesn’t mean I totally forget my passion for clothes. Here’s the proof. From Milan Fashion Week, I like the Neil Barrett Spring Summer 2013 collection. Not because he is one of my favourite designers, but because his work says it all. The #20 look is my favourite. The white and brown colours are totally fresh colours; The loose(ish) but still fit shirt and the pants are amazing. Each item will looks great paired with our already have wardrobe. And let me tell you this, every boy will like to wear this collection.

Menswear Trend From Pitti Uomo Scene

Based from what I’ve seen from Pitti Uomo scenes, the classic menswear trend is here to stay. Even getting stronger. And I’m not talking regarding the trade itself or the Milan Menswear Fashion Week. But from the actual trendsetting: the street scenes.

I found this very interesting, but (real) people apparently see trend not from the shows, but from the real people on the street of shows. It doesn’t mean that the shows aren’t the real deal. It is a real deal & unfortunately, not every men can translate the runway to real way. It is more like the job for fashion editor, blogger, & buyers. So where regular people can turn for fashion advice or clues for fashion others than the fashion pro’s?

Thanks to  Tommy Ton & The Sartorialist, now men from all over the world can see directly what’s look good for the street, based on the pictures of those who attending the trading & fashion shows. Some of the editors & buyers are the real thing for what the trend is all about. They are living proof, how you can relate with trend from runway to everyday outfit, what pieces that should be on your shopping list, and most importantly, how dressing can be inspired & fun for men.

Maybe because the economy or maybe it’s Mad Men fever,  but one thing for sure, classic style with modern twist is the trend for 2012. Classic pieces like tweed jacket, semi formal trousers, and classic accessory like wing tip shoe or leather folder case are not going anywhere, anytime soon. The only different from last year trend, it is more playful. Colorfull. Full of print. Instead of wearing matching dark color socks, now pop of color of socks is became something that everyman should wear for office outfit. The tweed jacket is more sporty, which is something that you can wear on daily basis. Pairing white jeans with polcadot shirt or ugly sweaters will make you stand out in crowd.
