Style Note From Cannes: Kanye Wears Same Outfit With Different Impact

Image: Zimbio

Wearing the same outfit is one thing, but when you are Kanye West & attending Cannes Film Festival, then is completely different thing & we need to talk about it. Kanye wears white blazer, faded jeans, & violet velvet slippers when attending CFDA Award June 2011. Now, almost a year forward, Kanye wears the same white blazer, same faded jeans, & black slippers shoe for the 2012 amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS gala.

For CFDA’s event, I totally agree that Kanye had fashion talent which makes him a designer. He looks sleek, effortless cool with slippers & bracelets. But now, not only he looks sloopy, but also look unhappy. Even the black velvet shoes itself  didn’t help at all. He looks like just woke up and slip into room slippers & hit the event directly. Can you see the different or is just me? I’m all about wearing basic staples over and over again, but wearing the same outfit and looks less good than last time, I obviously need help.

Can somebody please get his stylist rush to France, please?

So there it was. The biggest award in fashion. All the biggest names in the industry came together to celebrate & to receive the prestigious CFDA award that held in Lincon Center, New York (6 June 2011). This is the only award where the nominees dress themselves without help from stylist.

Red Carpet Moment: MET GALA 2011

The Met Gala 2011 is back! Editor, designer, model, director, actor, singer, socialite, CEO, and even politician all come together to celebrate the biggest night of the fashion. This is the place where you want to be seen and noticed as the real deal of fashion industry.

Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty is the theme for Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala this year. Inside the museum, there is an exhibition devoted for the british designer’s creations. Including master pieces from his time at Givenchy.  Many of the guest pay tribute to the late designer by wearing his design.  Daphne Guinness, Gisele Bundchen, and Sarah Jessica Parker just some names who are wearing McQueen.

In gentlemants department, i’m so happy to see there’s real progress. I don’t see the man who walk the red carpet just as the plus one anymore. In recent years, they become more confident and stand up for their own. Most of the gents wearing very slim tuxedo which give classic mens wear a new definition of style. Not only in classic colour (which is black), it refreshing to see white tuxedo (Matthew Morrison), smart details (Colin Firth), unexpected accesories like safety pin (Kanye west), or over the top tux in vibrant colour (Hamish Bowles) among the guests.

This is the list of the gents who in my opinion are the best dress at the Met Gala 2011:

  1. Kanye West in Tory Burch.
  2. Hamish Bowles in Alexander McQueen.
  3. Eddie Redmayne in Burberry.
  4. Chace Crawford in Valentino.
  5. Bruno Mars in Dolce & Gabbana.
  6. Matthew Morrison in Dolce & Gabbana.
  7. Colin Firth in Tom Ford.
  8. Ethan Peck in Lanvin.
  9. Pharrel Williams in Yves Saint Laurent.
  10. Max Irons in Dior Homme.

The New York’s favourite film festival is back and apparently the black/dark colour still everyone’s favourite. Is it because in New York or everyone just still love their fall assemble? It is hard to explain why.

But one thing for sure, i like the whole theme of the outfit. Very down town & casual.  Orlando Bloom in his gray sweater, Ryan Phillipe with t-shirt and blazer, and my favourite, Sam Rosen in red plaid shirt- a refreshing colour to see.
